Trends for this decade

Trends of global meat trade for this decade and Uruguay's positioning were analyzed by Pablo Caputi, Information Director.

Caputi stated that production of pigmeat and poultry will continue to grow on this decade, while grass-fed beef and sheep meat will also grow to a lesser extent, and remain at high prices.

In that sense, South America will be the great manufacturer of food and energy, simply because water is what produces life.  "We will compete based on grass", Caputi pointed out.

This region of the planet will struggle supported by food, he said.

As regards our country, he stated that there are two important pillars: the domestic market and the diversification of exports.
