Uruguay inaugurated the three-floor pavilion that catches the eyes of the first visitors to Expo Milan. Director of Uruguay XXI Antonio Carámbula stated that Expo Milan’s motto “Feed the planet, energy for life” seems tailor-made to our country: “We come to show the world that Uruguay is equity, sustainability, agro intelligence and mostly, quality of life. That is our Country Brand, which we will promote during the next 6 months”, he said.

Accompanied by Ambassador Gastón Lasarte and by Federico Stanham, Chairman of INAC, Carámbula welcomed visitors and thanked all the people that took part in the project and managed the Uruguayan pavilion -for the first time in a space of its own and designed by Uruguayan architects- was finished in due time and manner, "a stage has finished and now we begin another one, also a working stage, for six months", he said.

Ambassador Gastón Lasarte, Uruguayan consul in Milan and deputy commissioner of the pavilion before Italian authorities, thanked the audience composed by authorities, diplomats, national and international journalists, councils, Uruguay XXI staff, builders, engineers and architects, staff from INAC, the Uruguayan Consulate and the Embassy in Rome, for all the efforts made.

Federico Stanham, Chairman of the National Meat Institute, also gave a speech.

INAC collaborated with Uruguay XXI's project at Expo Milan by setting up a "parrilla gourmet", where the best Uruguayan meat cuts are served and which in the first day already caused the excitement of visitors who wanted reservations in advance.

Stanham acknowledged and thanked for the joint work of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Uruguay, Uruguay XXI and INAC and highlighted the cutting edge technology applied in the production of meats in Uruguay: “a producer of food for 30 million people, and hopefully, soon, for 50 million". At the restaurant visitors may also experience the traceability process through a QR code system which makes it possible to trace the meat back to the exact place where it comes from in Uruguay.
