Uruguay in Shanghai

World Expo Shanghai 2010 expects to receive the largest number of visitors (70 million) in the history of the exhibitions, between May 1st. and October 31st.

Uruguay has a pavillion of over 320 m² and a Restaurant of over 500 m².

Both premises are located at 200mts. of each other and are jointly working to encourage the promotion of Uruguayan activities.  At the Stand you may find information about the Uruguayan Restaurant and at the Restaurant there are Uruguayan promotional elements.

Visitors have payed special attention, specially the Chinese, to images of Uruguayan land, as well as the design of the cow which is representing our country in the centre of the pavilion.

The Latin American Commissioners agreed to celebrate the National Day of the countries with typical food, with Uruguayan meat.

INAC's Restaurant in China

Uruguay Natural, Meat Deli Restaurant opened in Shanghai, within the Universal Fair, until October 31st.

The Restaurant is located within the fair, of 528 acres and was built in 2 floors in the Restaurant sector, with a total size of 582 m², with the objective to promote Uruguayan meat through the Uruguay Natural Club Project (UNC).

The first restaurant of the UNC was inaugurated in 2008 at the International Exhibition of Zaragoza, Spain, where more than 80 thousand people tasted Uruguayan meat.  The second one was in Algarve, Portugal in 2009, with an average of two thousand people per month during four months.

Characteristics of the Restaurant

The Restaurant's objective is to offer the people who attend a good culinary experience in a pleasant atmosphere.

On the ground floor there is a Healthy Fast Food, with room for 140 people and six cash registers.  This space of 329 m² offers three options of combos based on meat.

On the first floor there is a Slow Food, of 253 m², with room for 130 people, with a menu with main dishes named after different Uruguayan touristic destinies - Punta del Este, Montevideo, Estancia, and others.

During the six months of the fair, there will be various activities for the public, where different qualities of Uruguayan meat will be shown, such as safety and the reliability it offers through traceability.

INAC's Chairman offered national and international media, details on Uruguay's presentation in Shanghai.

The Head of the Institute specially pointed out the joint work of public and private sectors to achieve this objective.
