Postgraduate Degree Approved

The Central Directive Council of the University of the Republic approved the Specialization in the Meat Industry career as a professional postgraduate degree of the University of the Republic.

This joint postgraduate degree between the National Meat Institute and the two Colleges of the University - Agronomy and Veterinary - is a way of institutional articulation which strengthens the capacities of the three institutions and impacts on the professional training of graduates.

The initiative to create the postgraduate degree was presented by INAC's authorities to University's authorities at the end of 2008.

In record time - May 2009 - the courses began as Permanent Education, with 40 students, leaving 80 on waiting list for the second edition.

Formal procedures to create the career as an official professional postgraduate degree of the University of the Republic, ended this year.

There is no other career in Meat Industry Specialization or similar postgraduate degrees in the country or in the region.

The Meat Industry Specialization has a long term projection and major impact potential at a national and international level, due to the public objective and the importance of the topic at national level.
