From Farm to Table

The 6th. Edition of the traditional Meat Production, Processing and Trading Congress, "From Farm to Table", will take place on November 22nd. and 23rd, 2010, in Montevideo.

The event is organized by LATU (Technological Laboratory of Uruguay), INIA (National Agricultural Research Institute) and INAC (National Meat Institute) and will be held at the new Conference Center of LATU, Los Robles Building.

This year's central themes are:

  • The environment as a relevant element for agribusiness: climate change, sustainability, environmental certification and social responsibility.
  • General meat consumer trends in domestic and external markets, with special emphasis in human health and food safety.
  • Public-private patterns to promote innovation in meat agribusiness.
  • Agribusiness and society: Individual behaviour and responsibility as key factors in the progress of society.

Members of the Organizing Committee of the Congress- Ricardo Robaina from INAC, Rosa Marquez from LATU and Fabio Montossi from INIA- have released the program and made known the characteristics of this edition.

Marquez said that some sessions of the Congress will be transmitted by radio - Sarandi and El Espectador - to be able to reach more public.

Ricardo Robaina mentioned that food safety, meat and health, climate change, domestic market, what consumers think about meat, public-private alliances in technological innovation topics, are some of the issues that will be dealt with during the Congress, which will be closed by the Minister of Agriculture and the Minister of Industry.
