Tested traceability

INAC carried out a traceability demonstration with beef empanadas eaten by attendees to the Conference "From farm to table". The link between the food and the farmer was thus established.

This demonstration was accompanied by a presentation named "Strengthening a country's reliability - Traceability in Uruguay", which was given by Agronomist Engineer Fernando Gil from the External Market Directorate.

Gil mentioned different approaches on this subject: the vision of the marketing strategy planner, the one of the technician and that of consumers, to summarize the platform of the Uruguay Natural Club Program, which boosts Uruguayan restaurants around the globe added to traceability, as a linkage possibility in a globalized world.

The traceability demonstration was made for conference attendees who tasted empanadas stuffed with traced beef. The test was made with beef supplied by three farmers of different points of the country, which was identified with a label bearing a bar code.
