Bone-in beef and offal exports to China are not blocked.

The Uruguayan Ambassador in China, Rosario Portell, stated to the Communication Secretariat of the Presidency of the Republic that bilateral relationships with the Popular Republic of China are excellent. Likewise, she informed that the commercial flow of bone-in beef and offal is normal and license granting was never suspended.

Ambassador Portell said that technical officers of both countries are negotiating an update of the current sanitary protocol, a procedure that is common in the framework of bilateral relationships with all countries.

“China has an excellent concept of the sanitary status of Uruguay, and of our transparency and reliability”, Portell said.

The situation of bone-in beef and offal exports from Uruguay to China was confirmed to the Ambassador by authorities of the General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine of China.
