Promotion of Uruguayan Meat.

The External Markets Director Silvana Bonsignore talked about promotion activities planned for next months. The most important is SIAL Paris Exhibition in October, where 20 processing plants will take part as co-exhibitors.

Bonsignore’s statements were done in the framework of Expo Prado 2012.

In the case of SIAL PARIS 2012, INAC attends this exhibition since the decade of the ‘80s. This year the Institute will participate together with 20 companies of the private sector, with a delegation of approximately 70 people. The stand will have 500 m2 distributed in two floors. The front office will be located downstairs as well as workstations and the coffee area. The meat tasting area and the kitchen will be located upstairs.

The exhibition, from 21st to 25 th October, is the obliged meeting spot for all those working with the world meat sector.

This year as an innovation, a farmer who participates in promotion activities will be part of INAC’s delegation and be able to know in detail the activities carried out abroad to promote Uruguayan meat. The farmer will be selected next 25th September by drawing lots among those enrolled in the project “Putting a Face to Farmers”.

On the other hand, a new edition of From Farm to Table will take place in November. In this sense, Bonsignore pointed out the importance of generating strategies for a food demand that is rapidly growing, and the Conference is focused in this direction.  

A National Cooking Competition will take place between 16th and 18th September, organized by the National Cooking Academy among the activities of “A tour throgh the senses” project. 

The winning chef will represent Uruguay at the LATIN AMERICA BOCUSE D’OR 2013 and if classified, will have the chance to compete at the WORLD BOCUSE D’OR 2014. The competition will follow international formats and qualification standards. Auditors of BOCUSE D’OR will act as jurors, to ensure transparency in the selection process.

Apart from supporting this event through the abovenamed project, INAC will provide the sheep meat used in the competition and offer technical and educational lectures to the public on different meat cuts.

In October once again Food & Wine will take place in Punta del Este, this time for the third consecutive year.

In 2012, it will be held between 26th and 28th October. Important chefs and foreign media are expected to take part. Among planned activities, the lunch to be held on Sunday 28th October stands out; it will be in the open at Pueblo Garzón’s square, conducted by Chef Francis Mallmann with his “Seven Fires”.

Apart from supporting this event in the framework of the project, INAC will provide certified beef and sheep meat to be used in the different activities, and on Monday 29th October there will be a workshop with foreign chefs visiting Uruguay.
