A step forward in High-Quality Beef for Russia

Date: 02/14/2014

The President of INAC Alfredo Fratti and the Ambassador of Uruguay in Russia Aníbal Cabral held a meeting with the Director of the Veterinary and Fitosanitary Federal Service of Russia Sergey Dankvert to discuss about the high-quality beef definition.

The meeting held at INAC’s stand at Prodexpo in Moscow was about the aspects Uruguay expects are included in the new definition that will allow for Uruguayan beef with certain attributes to achieve higher prices.

From Russia the President of INAC said "we are about to settle a Uruguay-Russia mixed committee that will work to make trade more fluid" and highlighted the time Mr. Dankvert dedicated to the meeting at Uruguay’s stand.

The meeting took place during the first day of work at the exhibition held in Moscow, where most actors “use for the first time the licenses granted for the meat trade in Russia” as Fratti said.

Fratti also said that if the High-Quality Beef definition for Russia is confirmed, prices for this product will be significantly higher, reaching 8.000 USD/ton according to Russian forecasts, for beef that is meant for direct consumption.

Accompanying the concept of excellence of the Uruguayan product,  the Uruguayan presentation in English, Spanish and Russian, includes images of the Uruguayan national ballet (Ballet Nacional del Sodre), of the first dancer María Noel Ricetto with dancer Juan Carlos Pi Camacho, taken at San Pedrito del Colorado farm.

Inclusion of culture and dance in the communication message of this year is the first step to arrange a presentation of the national ballet in Russia, with a view to promote our country, its surroundings and the quality of its products.
